The Park is named for Will May, an eight grader who will forever be remembered in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Community. He was killed in a hunting accident in January of 2013.

Officially opening April 1, 2014, the park was created with a $43,000 donation from the Will May Foundation. The money was raised in a Spring 5K race. This year's race will be on the Saturday before Bark in the Park to celebrate it's opening.

The park has two fenced-in areas on the 2.5 acre spot for dogs 35 pounds and heavier and the other for those under 34 pounds. The sculpture of a Labrador retriever marks the entrace.

Will May was the 13 year old son, nephew and grandson of local veterinarians.

His love for animals will continue. The Tuscaloosa Area Realtors Association chose this event as a tribute to his memory as well as an outreach to the community and PARA, who oversee the park.
